CBS research room and research services at the center
The university allocated an administrative position to the data lab for a data manager/technician and future research room supervisor. Mr. Evgeny Saburov, who has extensive experience working with research room data, was appointed to the position, and will be available to all university researchers immediately.
The research services that the center will provide will be paid (details below). To encourage university researchers to make use of the center’s services, the research authority will subsidize the cost of the first 12 working hours of the center’s services for each researcher (up to a relatively high annual expenditure ceiling).
The Haifa Center on the Politics of Inequality therefore invites all university researchers to make use of its the existing research infrastructure and the center’s resources, which at this stage include:
- Support and accompaniment of researchers in submitting an application for the use of CBS data in general, and research room data in particular.
- Data management and data processing services for the CBS data or other surveys (until the establishment of the research room at the university, the center will provide data management and processing services in the CBS research room located in Haifa downtown or from the center’s office by using a remote access system provided by the CBS).
We are working on developing the data lab, so that in the near future it will include a wider range of services for researchers (digitization of documents; data from mobile apps, etc.).
To order data management and processing services from the center, an application containing several questions must be submitted – link to the application for research services. The questions in the form reflect the criteria according to which a dedicated committee of the center, led by Prof. Benjamin Bental, will assign the applications to three levels of priority. These priorities will be used to allocate the center’s resources and determine the work order of the laboratory manager/technician. The committee will meet on a regular basis, and not less than once a month.
The cost of the service (data management and processing):
Starting from March 2023, the hourly cost will be NIS 150.
(The cost includes salary, social contributions and a 25% overhead charged to the center).
We all hope that the community of researchers of the university will receive the best the center’s services can offer, with the aim of raising the scope and quality of research in general, and research in inequality in particular.
