Liran Harsgor is a Lecturer (Assistant Professor) in the Division of Government and Political Theory, School of Political Science, University of Haifa. Her research focuses on cross-national and comparative analysis of political attitudes, policy preferences, and voting behavior. This line of research devotes special attention to elections as a democratic process through which the public’s policy preferences are translated into power sharing in legislatures and governments, leading ultimately to law-making and policy implementation.

In her studies, Liran examines differences in voting behavior between social groups and the mechanisms that lead to such political gaps. Several of her studies deal with gender gaps in political preferences, why they emerge, and how they translate into voting patterns. Liran also studies how political institutions such as the electoral system, party system, and government structure affect voters’ decisions.
